Andres Alcala is a veteran stage performer, writer and director, producing award-winning work at home in Portland, Oregon as well as in Chicago and Arizona. He is currently working on a one man show called Men on the Verge 2: The Self Esteem Files.
Andres has directed Shakespeare as well as acted for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. For Southwest Shakespeare he had the honor of playing Iago in Othello and Richard in Richard III.
Describe your character. What challenges did you
face taking this role?
"The hardest thing about playing the teacher was finding the balance between being stern vs. showing compassion. He needed to be frustrated but understanding of Addison. Though it was a small beat, my favorite moment was following Addision out with my eyes and breathing the sigh of someone who wished he could help this kid have a breakthrough."
